Death SS - 1977 -2007, 30 Years Of Horror Music
\r\nWhen Death ss had a new release through the past years, it was a very special fact for their fans, but nowdays, unfortunatelly. seems to be a more common phenomenom. Through these last couple of months, we have two death ss releases, first of all this double DVD release, as well as the re release of “In Death Of Steve Sylvester” on Pic LP via horror records, wich having in mind the thirst of the death ss collectors, released also 12 (??) testpressing lp’s of this release and sells them through ebay, in such great amount of money. I’ve been devoted fan of the band, for the last twelve years and I can only say “please , have mercy on us” another cash in?
\r\nSo here we got the double DVD box set release of the band, that tries to cover it’s whole history, as the title states, from the early days of 1977 till nowdays. This box, features all the promo videos of the band, from “Heavy Demons” era to their latest release, “7th Seal”, featuring also the video “Brocken Soul” from Steve sylvester’s first solo effort back in 1993. The videos from their three latest albums is officially released for the first time. Moving on to the Section of the dvd “Rare Cursed Coven footsge”, here we have some archival live appearences of the band, but unfortunatelly the sound is taken from the studio albums, in particular tracks, the scenes you watch is not the song you hear…why???. Another interesting section of the dvd is the bootleg tracks captured during the “The horned God Of witches tout” and “Seventh Seal” tour, but once again the sound isnt 100% live…
\r\nThe Second disc features an extensive documentary about the band from the early days till today. The fisrt part of it was available on “The night of the living death ss” VHS, and it was narrated by Steve Sylvester, the second part of this documentary is narrated by some unkown guy, surely not Steve, although the dvd states Steve as narrator.
\r\nProbably the only positive point of this release is that is a limited to 2000 pieces edition and comes in a coffin shaped box, with a patch and a pin. I would suggest this release to the fans of the late Death SS periods, also to the fans that would like to see the rise and fall of an obscure heavy metal band that turned to industrial / pop band of the worst kind.
