Thaurorod - Morning Lake
\r\nThird demo by the Finnish (with their less catchy of a name) Thaurorod, this time as a single. Judging from the efforts of the band up to date, it seems that these guys possess all the craving but there are still certain points where they are falling short. But let’s be more analytic…
\r\nThaurorod play Symphonic Power Metal forced from the heart of Finland, that is to say something in the vein of Nightwish but with less female vocals and with more extreme Power outbreaks. "Morning Lake" contains only 3 songs, from which very early the group’s function becomes crystal clear. In terms of the music it is true that they are doing fine, excluding the fact that often they seem to be repetitive. The songs are shaped by fast, heavy, rhythmical riffs but also by many solos, while the fast drumming is the most distinguished element of the group. The keys don’t have a sovereign role and consequently they don’t get boring. They simply exist only in order to fill each song and of course in order to create a more epic and warm atmosphere. As far as the vocals concerning however, things are by no means any good since Mr. Vladimir Lumi is leniently unacceptable, colorless, monotonous and unfortunately he can’t be tolerable not even for a short moment. If those vocals were absent and replaced by other ones more vivid and capable of transmitting the energy that releases of this kind acquire, then things surely would be better. But when we listen to the same monotonous and compressed voice for 15 minutes, the result ends up really irritating. Due to the small amount of the female vocals the situation (as far as this can be possible) is somehow saved. And it is a pity because due to the vocals this work isn’t being boosted at all not in the slightest way. In terms of the production, the band is doing great since the mastering of the demo took place at the well known Finnvox Studios in Finland and more generally the result reveals the presence of professionals.
\r\nThaurorod look like they have ideas but they still need more work in order to achieve a more forceful entry into the fields of extreme sound. Of course, to accomplish something like that, they have to make immediately something about the vocals section otherwise things won’t be very positive for them.\r\n
