Aleph - In Tenebra
\r\nThis album has been released in the past two years ago only this time the release jas been made through Frontiers Records and so we are presenting it with a small delay. In Tenebra is the debut album of the Italians Aleph who are a quite peculiar case because if you look around for the reviews they’ve received you’ll see people loving them and you’ll see people hating them. In 2006 Aleph were voted band of the year in the Italian Metal Hammer. My personal opinion is that we have to deal with an interesting band. However I feel that they need to work more in order to make themselves extremely noticeable. The music we meet in this album can be characterized as Progressive Metal with many Avantgarde elements and some atmospheric and dark passings. The combination isn’t well bounded, and in result, the main element is chaos and a constant urge of something left half. It’s obvious the band is filled with ideas but instead of innovative they end up sounding tiring. I can’t deny there are good tracks on the album, like The Fallen (which can also be found in Italian), and Unfaithful which embed a beautiful theatrical element and are gladly listened to. Other than that the album losses it’s track totally, and at the end it’s flat and meaningless. Finally, as far as the production is concerned, it could have been better since this particular genre need well polished production in order to shine. Same goes for vocal lines, since most of the time they sound senseless. I will be waiting for their second try as I think they have good ideas and is they work harder they can bring them to life. \r\n
