When Death Metal meets technicality and melody meets emotion, then the result is no other than The Craving! Kenos come from Italy and up till now have released a MCD (Rigor Mortis - 2002), a full length album (Intersection - 2004), while The Craving is their new album and undoubtedly their best. The band offer’s us 10 tracks of immaculate Progressive Death Metal within which we can clearly see the influences of other styles and some Gothic elements, especially in the fourth track of the album called The Icon. Trade mark of the band is the many sifts of styles and the truly technical playing, which instead of tiring you, makes you embrace their sound and finally love it. There are many catchy parts with well established melodies and of course all these are enhanced under the light of a good production. The band reminded me of Swedish bands while other times Death came into mind while listening to their music. It might be pre mature to say that a band this young reminds us of DEATH but Kenos love Chuck and this is more than evident. Vocals seem to be very well worked and are exactly what this genre needs in my opinion. The CD comes in a great Digipack version accompanied by a great artwork. The Craving is an album for everyone who listens to Progressive Death but can also be enjoyed by pretty much anyone who will savor Kenos music and offer’s it chance to flourish. I’d like to wish them all the best and hope they don’t stop composing music because they’re truly worth it.
