Emperor - In The NightSide Eclipse
\r\nWithout a doubt during the Early, Mid 90’s there were around the best Norwegian black metal releases even from band like Dimmu Borgir (Yep. Once they played black metal)
\r\nNorwegian Black Metal (Norge Black Metal) can be categorized by two waves according to the each bands year of founding, So we can say that in the first wave belong bands like Darkthrone, Immortal, Ulver, Burzum, Mayhem, Satyricon and probably the best act of them Emperor.
\r\nEmperor released their first selftitled E.P. back in the 1993 with the following line up:
\r\n Ihsahn (Vegard Sverre Tveitan), Samoth (Tomas Thormodsaeter Haugen), Mortiis (Haavard Ellefsen) and Faust (Bard Eithun). This first release made Emperor a well-known undergound black metal band.
\r\nIn 1993 they did a small tour and entered the Grieghallen Studios to write their new material for their first full length, having a line up change Mortiis left Emperor and his replacement was Tchort (Terje Vik Schei). In 1993 wrote the music and in the early of 1994 emperor finished the mastering of their new album, so in 1994 the “In The Nightside Eclipse” album was a fact.\r\n

\r\n“In The Nightside Eclipse” was the album that gave birth to the so called “Majestic Black Metal” and this is another reason that this LP can be considered as one monumental release and one of the best black metal LPs ever.
\r\n“Frost” and “Darkness” possess the Whole album. From the Intro to the last notes of “Inno A Satana” there is not even a second without this dark, unique atmosphere.
\r\nThe Blast Beat of Faust keep on hammering and torturing the ears of the unsuspected listener. Samoth’s and Ihsahn’s cords teach the way of playing dark, majestic black metal, the keybords are majestic but play in the background, so the atmosphere becomes some king of eerie and chaotic while the Ihsahn’s vocals leaves the listener no choice but to admit that along with Mayhem’s “De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas” and Burzum’s “Hvis Lyset Tar Oss”, “In The Nightside Eclipse” is the best mid 90’s release of the scene.
\r\nThe artwork made by the famous Nekrolord (King Diamond, Dissection ect.). Another worth to mention fact is the back cover statement by Emperor that dedicate the album to the memory of Euronymous ( Oystein Aarseth), guitarist of Mayhem that he was murdered in 09 / 10/1993 by the dagger of Varg Vikernes (Count Grishnackh – Burzum).
\r\nIn 1994 Ihsahn puts the band in On hold state because of the imprisonment of Samoth (Church Burning) and Faust (Homicide)
