Arcanar - Dusty Lord

Arcanar - Dusty Lord

\r\nThe album was released in 2006 but since we received it only recently, we make its presentation under this delay. Arcanar is a band from Russia and "Dusty Lord" is their debut album. The entire work is quite unusual from the view of many different angles. The most basic factor is that everything in this record is in the native language of the band and without a trace not so ever of English. Either it is about the booklet or the lyrics, the band thought it was better the Russian language to exist alone, from one hand an interesting and prototype thing, but displeasing from the other one since we cannot simply understand anything regarding to the lyrics etc. Regardless the press release that comes with this release features the titles of the tracks also in English and so we are able to submit them below.
\r\nThe first thing that draws attention to "Dusty Lord" is the amazing artwork and thus the way it is created is revealing the fact that we are dealing with an atmospheric release. The album contains 9 tracks, with one of them being an intro constituted by a piano demonstration and the other two songs are short in duration, constituted exclusively by acoustic guitars which function as introductions to the following tracks, while there is also an instrumental. So actually there are 5 completed songs in which we discover the dark and melancholic side of the band, with their Doom/Death Metal influences being everywhere and with some Jazz touches supplementing the result. The band has accomplished to create quite a style of its own which however is framed by the ideas that initially were engraved by Mourning Beloveth, My Dying Bride and more generally all the representatives of Death/Doom Metal and the atmospheric sound as well. The difference about Arcanar however is that they kept absolutely all the essential things and added a lot of technical elements reminding us many times to what we call Jazz Metal. The songs are melodic and dark, while the alternations play their own role. The vocals most of the time are brutal however there are also some clean parts with both interplaying and coexisting harmoniously. Either we are dealing with the sluggish riffs or with the most technical passages, the band appears to be tied up and inspired, while something that it is worth to be reported is that in each hearing each one can discover something new, something that can draw him deeper down this melancholic and at the same time anxious result that Arcanar has created. It is true that the album lacks the catchy songs that one can easily absorb. However if we pay attention to the tracks and listen to them carefully, then the melodies that exist within are most obvious and in particular the more carefully we listen to it, the more melodies we discover. Finally, we must say that the production is in appreciable levels although it could have been a little better and the instruments could have had a more clear sound. In any case however it is not bad and annoying.
\r\nArcanar created an album that is addressed to those who are enough open-minded in their hearings. It is a dark and at the same time technical record that hides a lot of interesting elements. All faithful step forward…\r\n
