ART OF SIMPLICITY - Caught In This Iless Storm

It is not the first time that we\r\npresent Art Of Simplicity via this site, but it is the first time that we speak\r\nfor a full length album of theirs, since Caught In This Iless Storm is their\r\ndebut album. A year before, we had the opportunity\r\nto hear their Demo titled Asymmetric, which we particularly liked and certainly\r\nit was something very hopeful for the Greek scene. Today, with Caught In This\r\nIless Storm, the band appears even more tied up and mature with the same\r\nhowever appetite and inspiration for the creation of songs. The disk contains 9\r\ntracks from which 4 are taken from last year’s Demo (Asymmetric Act, Looks From\r\nThe Mirror, A Search For Numb and Nothing). The mentality is the same and the band’s\r\nstyle hasn’t changed by any means. So everything that we have known by Art Of\r\nsimplicity from the first steps of their course are here. Progressive passages,\r\na lot of melodic points, beautiful atmosphere, technical pieces, beautiful vocals,\r\nsentiment and all these, accompanied with an irreproachable production, without\r\na negative thing so ever. The band once more is experimental and daring by using\r\ninstruments, not so acquainted for the sound, like violin. Almost in all of the\r\nsongs a melancholic atmosphere dominates which personally gained my interest very\r\neasily, while it is obvious that the members of the band are irreproachable\r\nmusicians, giving however emphasis on the sentiment rather than reminding us continuously\r\n(as it is most likely very usual in the Progressive sound) how good players\r\nthey are. The keys existing throughout the pieces grant them with an\r\natmospheric touch but with a measure. Finally, we should mention that even the\r\ncover of the album is amazing even though it leads more into atmospheric\r\nsituations than in Prog phase. Caught In This Iless Storm is an amazing and at\r\nthe same time open-minded album from an amazing band. If all Progressive releases\r\nwere like this one over here, then things would be much better. The album is\r\nreleased by Burning Star Records. And it’s worth your attention!\r\n
