The Birthday Massacre - Walking With Strangers

The Birthday Massacre - Walking With Strangers

The Birthday Massacre from Toronto, come back with the new, third in row, complete release which is called Walking With Strangers. The band has nothing that would catch our attention by it’s first hearing. It’s melodic and mainstream, music which is based on on the many dark/Gothic paths while the industrial aspects also play their part on the album. All this is combined with a modern Alternative touch and the result are 12 equally worth songs that I personally found flat, with no exquisite moments in them or anything like that. We should also mention that there are a few scattered electronic elements  that are heard in the songs which are very discreet though and not of a great importance. The vocals are well-worked on and are appropriate for this kind of music but personally there were moments that tired me since you can tell they tried very hard to make them sound very sentimental and atmospheric, which from one point and after results in being boring. We should say that throughout the whole album, the vocals have a pop clue to them. The Birthday Massacre are a typical Gothic/Industrial/Alternative band like all the others out there. There is no reason to praise or get excited about them.
