\r\nBathory epic metal, this would be a very accurate title for the album “Vengeance”. The spiritual child of Walter Crom Grosse, guitarist and bassist of the German Black Metallers Dark Fortress, after 2-3 demos and an EP releases its first full length album with Pure Steel Records.
\r\nRaw, thunderous, pompous with riffs that reffer mostly to “classical” bands (Iron Maiden, Manowar, Judas Priest) and a voice without high pitched parts and all the relative, that causes a penetrating epic feeling to such a degree that you may envision that you are in a middle of some battle, fighting. The vocals may not hit high notes and “escalate”, but the tempo definitely varies a lot from slow rhythms to stirring up-tempo drumming in combination with Viking type of clean melodies, beautiful vocal lines, and enchanting chorus parts. Unique sentiments and pictures revive, a lot of pictures while listening to “Vengeance”.
\r\nThe artwork is exceptional coming from the Belgian fantasy artist Kris Verwimp, known from his previous collaborations with bands such as Ancient Rites, Absu, Arch Enemy, Bewitced and the list never ends. (http://home.scarlet.be/krisverwimp).
