Ebony Ark - When The City Is Quiet

Ebony Ark - When The City Is Quiet

\r\nThis album was initially meant to be released from Transmission Records in 2006, which however closed down. For this reason, Ebony Ark should have to find another record label, in order to release this album and so we had this delay of two years. Finally the album releases from Ascendance Records and the band should be happy enough with this particular company, which although is not one of the well-known, however it is very reliable and supports by all means its bands. Ebony Ark exists from 2002 and comes from Spain. When The City Is Quiet is their new album in which we listen to Progressive Power/Heavy Metal with female vocals, which give a Gothic atmosphere which co-exists harmonically with the typical progressive sounds. To be honest, this album worn me out a little and this was because of the compositions are repeated and enough predictable What I liked most, is that the band has combined with beautiful way progressive influences with Heavy outbreaks and Gothic elements, but this is as if divides the listeners, as it is sure that someone who is fond of classic Heavy Metal sound will find absolutely nothing interesting in the album. So, When The City Is Quiet is addressed in those who are fans of groups such as Nightwish, Madder Mortem etc. The compositions are technical, but also melodic while in all of them is more than obvious the sound of keyboards. Solos are used to a great extend and there is always a Gothic atmosphere in order to reminds us the darkest side of the band. The tracks are mainly based on heavy rhythmic riffs which in combination with the beautiful production are heard pleasantly enough. Finally we must say, that vocals could have been a little better- and this is always my personal opinion- as in a lot of points becomes very irritating. When The City Is Quiet is a average album which is created from an open minded band, which if it works a more, soon will accomplish a lot. Take a look and you will not lose something. \r\n
