Elvenking - The Scythe

Elvenking - The Scythe

\r\nThis is the fourth full length album of the band “Elvenking” and I think that it proves that they don’t rely on their past work, on the contrary, they keep on getting better all the time. For those who may not be aware of this group, their music is a mixture of Folk and Heavy/Power Metal, along with "unceasing" death-like passages. Their style reminds you of bands such as Blind Guardian, Skyclad even Iced Earth (in some vocal parts), while through very fast changes, the songs turn to In Flames and Children of Bodom-like stuff. The whole feeling is epic, dark, yet not that melancholic, and, in general, I’d say that the diversity of ideas is characteristic, and this is what makes this album pretty interesting. The vocals are sometimes aggressive and brutal, other times they are more melodic, while the vocal lines are just amazing. The album contains 10 tracks and another pretty remarkable thing is the production. These guys are inspired, and, no doubt, their musical proposal has a lot so say, even if its “distinctiveness” may be a bit confusing or strange both for fans and the editors.    \r\n
