Hegemon - Contemptus Mundi

Hegemon - Contemptus Mundi

\r\nThe new label Underground Activists is a branch of Season Of Mist, devoted to the underground. Hegemon is a French black metal band with a Norwegian sound strongly reminding of older Satyricon and Ulver (at their harder times) or even of the always blameworthy underestimated Obtained Enslavement. "Contemptus Mundi" is their third album and, a melodic black metal piece of work which orients itself rather to the modern way of the genre with a lot of depth and diversity. The sound is really differentiated with the speed varying between double bass attacks and mid tempo passages and furious rage as well as a slight epic feeling with acoustic guitars and medieval elements. The compositions are empowered from majestic and deeply thoughtful atmospheric moments to pure, cold breathing black metal played at maximum force and well performed with excellent sound quality although the production has a kind of an over-polished elaboration. So overall Hegemon’s black metal is really stimulating, persuasive and a beautiful sample of the French black metal scene.\r\n
