\r\nFirst album for the French band IBOGAINE which combines Thrash, old school thrash metal to be more accurate and hardcore with some progressive passages. Aggressive vocals, fast riffing, rhythms that change and change; those are the main points that I liked the most during listening to the album, even though “React” belongs to those ones that take a lot of hearings in order to get the picture.
\r\nThey reminded me a lot of Mastodon and what grabed my attention to a high degree was the jazzy parts and the way they tie up so well with the brutal feeling of the vocals. Screaming and growling, killer combination can’t you tell? Okay, things are a bit tough here and I wouldn’t propose it to “sensitive” ears.
\r\nThe tracks are weird, with particular, complex structure that contains a lot of subjects/themes, beautiful “mixed” all together, with a good production and one more remarkable element which is the impressive work on the bass. In its entirety, therefore, we have 11 tracks that are based on the same pattern and come from a band which is pretty interesting with all this mathematical way of playing. This last thing should give you an idea about the content of the album and its style in general. Usually when a band attempts to play this way, it actually misses the basic point which is music rather than showing off, but, thankfully, “React” has nothing to do with that. \r\n
