\r\nKawir was always one my most favorite bands and their new album "Ophiolatreia" a most desirable and long-awaited release for me. Although their previous effort "Arai" sounded a kind of sterile and keyboard overloaded to me, this time around those Hellenic occult pagan black metallers to my ear-pleasuring returned into the raw, primordial beauty from the scene’s glory days of the early ’90s. The keyboards still maintain a great part of their musical sources replicating folk sounds and melodies and hardly there are any surprises incorporated into their sound’s foundations. Kawir has developed a background of their own and with focus point their general pagan Hellenic philosophy they develop their music around and towards it with an uncommon charm and always with the unmistakable Hellenic Touch. And always under the ancient Greek consciousness and traditional / indigenous ethos. \r\n

\r\nThere are so many highlights in this album from the opening track "Moirae", a raging song with a howling raw guitar riffing and a very dashing atmosphere based clearly on the old Greek black metal sound to the superb "Rea (Meter Theon)" sublime and forceful with melodic guitars, exceptional keyboard use and it’s majestic, worshiping attitude. "Poseidon" is another great song with the opening flute, the energetic melody in the guitars and the melancholy in the keyboards creating a mind blowing, hymnic aura. And of course "Nemesis" and "Ares (The God of War)" with their war like riffs, their thriving epic feeling and black metal’s threatening onslaught. All nine tracks in this album has a substance of their own and there are no weak moments here just well established, well formed, dynamic, archetypical pagan black metal greatness!!!\r\n

\r\nIf you don’t know this band yet it is time to know their divine nature. If you miss this album the thunder of God Jeus will fall on your heads!!!\r\n
