Lunatica - New Shores

Lunatica - New Shores

\r\nAnother female fronted symphonic metal album? You are close but…. You see Lunatica are trying for commercial success and that is more than obvious here.
\r\nBut trying this is not necessarily a problem. In every case, you ‘ll like songs as ’New Shores’, ’Two Dreamers’, ‘The Chosen Ones’, ‘The Day The Falcon Dies’. It’s not that they‘ll shook your world but they are catchy songs with memorable refrains and easy melodies. To be honest I was excited with the opening track. But song after song the album was getting worse. Lunatica’s symphonic metal does not afraid to be a little prog-y- when needed but at the same time there is a Pop veil that covers everything. This will push metalheads away. From the other hand pop fans are not exactly expecting Lunatica’s music. I think that they’ve reached a crossroad with this one. With their next album either they’ go Pop like evanescence or (for me) they should seek the progressive edge of their music. At the same time they’ll have to lower Andrea‘s voice in the background leaving the instrumentation do its part in the foreground. Lunatica could have something rather special on their hands here but it ends up to be another Sunday morning album (I’m guessing that you’re not listening grindcore when you suffer a hangover!). You‘ll hate it if you take it seriously and you ‘’ll like it for easy listening. When doing housekeeping for example…
\r\nRecommended for fans of Epica, Sirenia and Nightwish only.\r\n
