Origin - Antithesis
Origin - Antithesis
\r\nMany of you already know Origin from Topeka, Kansas as one of the best and most extreme bands in the new wave of technical brutal death metal. With ex and current members from many well known death metal bands like Cannibal Corpse, Dying Fetus, Vile, Gorgasm and Angel Corpse you could except nothing less than excellent musicianship and destructive brutality. With former members John Longstreth (drums) and Jeremy Turner (guitar) having returned to the band’s ranks Origin features the same line-up that created the highly acclaimed 2002’s "Informis Infinitas Inhumanitas"."Antithesis" is their fourth album with 10 tracks of brutal technical death metal fortified by relentless blasts, a triple vocal attack along with a technical and cruel riffage and thick bass lines. Although the majority of the album persists into a constant hyper speed blurriness that rarely changes tempo making the songs hard to remember and being able to distinguish them only after you’ve listened to them plenty of times, there is actually a characteristic of maturity in their playing being less indistinct and turbulent than the three previous albums. Songs are longer and the guitar work seems far more complex with more solos and leads, the bass lines are really audible in this record and finally the drumming is once again like an unstoppable war machine and so fast that sounds almost inhuman. Of course all this frenetic auditory vehemence as I said above makes the songs really indistinguishable and without giving you the slightest moment or space to be able to breathe and relax. Except of course the last song of the album which kicks in as a long epic journey that lasts about 9 minutes and demonstrates a broader and much groovier side of the band that I don’t remember in any of their old releases. It is true "Antithesis" ignores just for a moment the ecstasy of ultra fastness in order to give in the geometric forms of constant changes and producing the catchier riffs of the entire album and finally creating maybe the best song I have ever heard from this band.
\r\nOverall, if you liked the previous releases of this band this new one will also thrill your heart equally as your neck. If from the other hand you never heard of them but speedy death metal can never be fast enough for you then this is your band.\r\n
