Pÿlon - Doom

Pÿlon - Doom

I strongly believe that no one can doubt the originality of the Swiss metal scene through the years. If we have a look to the past we will remember some pioneer bands that created their own unique sound, bands like Krokus, Celtic Frost, Coroner, Samael and my personal favorite Messiah and many more. So from this unique metal scene a new power rising, the band called Pylon. This is the band’s second release (their first album “Natural Songbirth” can’t be counted since has nothing to do with the bands current direction ).
\r\nSo, In this second release entitled simply as “Doom” what else can you except? Nothing but Doom metal!!! So here we have a great mix of Saint Vitus’ monolithic sound with some epic elements in the vain of Candlemass. But the originality of Pylon is that they do mix these elements with some keyboards and many effects all in a unique doom metal structure. There were moments that Pylon reminds me of the Italian doom prog band Black Hole and in the next moment something of the classic Trouble / Vitus sound, of course this is not a rip off band, they have their own unique sound. There are also some acoustic parts that have the use of intros or outros and some really psychedelic keyboards. All these elements work together so the listener can describe “Doom” as one of the unique doom metal releases.
\r\nI d also like to congratulate Pylon’s small label (Quam Libet) for making one of the best digi pack packaging I ve ever seen and in a very reasonable price.
\r\nI have nothing to add, I think that a listening will persuade you, for now Pylon gained one more fanatic listener.
