Serpentcult - Weight Of Light

Serpentcult is a doom metal outfit from Belgium that released their debut album, ,  “Weight Of Light”  some time ago , through Rise Above Records. The members of the band are three ex members of the split up outfit  Thee Plague of Gentlemen (Bassist, Guitarist, Drummer) plus the addition of Michelle behind the mic stand.
\r\nThe sound that these guys make is close enough to bands like Mourn and the early days of Electric Wizard. So here we have a Doom / Stoner metal band which lead singer has many influences by female singers like Jex Thoth, Caroline Wilson (Mourn UK), and Jinx (Coven(USA)the mother of all influences) while the music is a mix of stoner brakouts with many classic Doom riffing. As anyone can notice the production of the album is based on the rhythm section and especiallt the bass lines of LQW and the guitars own this trademark distortion with the right “depth”.
\r\nGenerally the album can be described as a abysmal doom / stoner result that in my opinion will appeal many fans, doom metal fans and not. Personally I put the album in the must – listen albums.
