Sinner - CRUSH & bURN

\r\nI was waiting quite impatiently for this new album by SINNER. You see the previous one still lingers in my mind and Black is an old time classic in my heart. And so yesterday when I got my hands on Crash & Burn I couldn’t keep myself. I feel there’s no introduction needed for SINNER the band of Mat Sinner who also plays in Primal Fear but has a history that dates back to the 80s. And maybe it’s just because of that that the music Mat writes is always with a 80s feeling in it. So let’s take it track by track.
\r\n
\r\nThe album starts of with the edgy fast heavy song Crash & Burn and continues with the really streetwise Break The Silence. It’s got a sort of Megadeath feeling into it, with groovy catchy riffs that are clinging in your mind even from the first time they touch your ears. And then along comes the stray Dog, smelling like vagrancy…I am the one that is looking for trouble and trouble is looking for me… I love the trashy sense of freedom you can taste in the guitars in this one. And just as you are into the rebel mood you turn around and along comes a fully melodic, nostalgic Heart of Darkness which is my personal favorite, even though it sounds like Mercenary Man from the latest Firewind Album Premonition which in it’s turn reminds everyone of a Thin Lizzy style. And along comes a woman who is all by her self a Revolution! A track completely in the vein of the 80s and love is back in the jail house… And just to keep in balance after a woman you can’t resist because she is a Revolution a man who’s Unbreakable. Fine cut riffs; polished sound makes all songs in this album sound breezy. However the subject here is more idealistic and less about love, even though the music preserves it’s catchy feeling. And just because we got in the mood here comes a Fist to Face which is definitely in a Twisted Sister more classic heavy metal style. It’s the kind of music I would say is attached in my mind with car racing as if it’s the natural soundtrack to it.  And after that crescendo of speed, comes a melodic ballad which you listen to Until It Hurts. It’s not exactly the best Mat can write, cause he’s been better but the taste of hurt is there, giving you shivers up your spine. And since the subject has turned again onto relationships, well there are many ways to handle love troubles, one is suggested by Until It Hurts and the other is hide behind your anger so no one will see how much you hurt. So that no one will see you you think you have a Little Head which can’t take the pain. As for the last two songs Connection and Like a Rock well it’s only Rock’N’Roll!

\r\nIn general I would say that Crash & Burn didn’t disappoint me cause I can listen to it from the first to the last song and even sing along in some tracks, but it misses the one song that would cling in my mind and make me replay it again and again like Black from Mask Of Sanity. But still it’s a very good album and besides there aren’t many releases these days you can listen to from first to last track… Enjoy!
