Theatre Of Tragedy - Forever Is The World

Theatre Of Tragedy - Forever Is The World

\r\nI remember, as if it was just yesterday, when I first watched the video for the song “Siren” and I was mesmerized. I was listening to this song every day. It was this very special thing about Theatre of Tragedy compared to the other bands back then. It was something charming.
\r\nThings have changed ever since both in the music industry and in Theatre of Tragedy. It’s a fact that Liv was the persona of the group and her absence will always “haunt” the band. Afterall, she established a whole music tension through her ethereal performance and stage image and later on this tension led to the birth of a new music scene. However, Theatre of Tragedy managed to move on, regardless weather they ever really “filled” this gap or not.
\r\nSo, in the year 2009 they take us to these dark melodic musical journeys once more through their new album “Forever is the World”. Just a few pop-electro spots, fairytale-like female vocals, some brutal passages so to make the whole thing sound a bit “heavier”, sweet melodies are the basic elements in the compositions. The pop-ish aura of the songs makes them even more appealing, even though they are not meant to be “pop/rock-hits” or anything like that. They intrigue you without being “catchy”.
\r\nYou can call it dark, gothic, doom/death or whatever. The fact is that there’s this sweet melancholy in the songs and won’t try to escape from it. Just turn off the lights, light some candles, take a glass of wine and let Theatre of Tragedy to do the rest. It’s just wonderful. And it’s still raining outside… \r\n
