Universe 217 - Universe 217

\r\nThere is a lot of noise about Universe 217 lastly. Not unfair. This band from Athens managed to create something unique fro the greek standards. The problem is that, this music cannot be heard from anyone, as it’s very difficult and complicated, since it’s based more in the atmosphere and the Down Tempo points and not in the typical melodies or in the ususal way, according to which a song is composed. This is not at all negative and if we judge this work with objectiveness, then this band created a masterpiece. Since I have to tell my opinion, I will do it freely. I have to say that I got tired from the 7 songs of the album. Maybe is the fact that I’m not educated in such hearings. Maybe is the fact that sometimes Universe’s music sounded to me like a noise (something which admit themselves, as they describe their songs noisy). Maybe is the fact that the vocals sounded more like screamings, while the production seemed to me a little bit dim. Whatever is to blame on, unfortunetely I’m not one of those who will belaud Universe 217. Their music is near to experiment and the discover of new musical idioms and as I have already said, it’s based in the atmosphere, which is dull thoughout the whole album. The songs varies from Down Tempo to Mid Tempo rhythms and in combination with the paranoid Tania’s vocals, the result may be macabre and atmospherical, but it seemed to me indifferent. What I didn’t like was the fact that there wasn’t a specific melody in the songs - or if it exists, I couldn’t hear it - and consequently I got tired from what I’ve heard , since there wasn’t anything to draw my attention. What I liked most was the intro of "Harmless" and this because it has a beautiful melody, which can be pleasantly heard. Noone can say that the band doesn’t have talent or that it hasn’t dedicated a lot of time for the creation of the album. I’m not one of those who could say anything bad for this band, since I’m not able of creating something similar. I’m just saying that I got tired form this album and although I’ve heard it a lot of times, I didn’t managed to gain something from it. Beyond my personal point of view, however, what counts is the personal opinion, so it would be better to check Universe 217 and in order to get an idea, you can see their video for the song "I Don’t Give A Damn". Personally, I would like to wish them all the best and I would be glad to hear their future works.\r\n
