The Devil Wears Prada - Plagues
This isn’t the soundtrack of the famous movie but an American Metalcore μband which released its debut album in 2006under the title Dear Love: A Beautiful Discord which has already sold over 30.000 copies only within the US. Plagues is their second album and personally I would say its by far better that its precedent and more mature. However there’s still something missing in order to make the difference or give us something that would draw our attention. The music is based on chopper riffs and the various changes within the vocal lines from brutal to melodic etc. The ten songs in this album aren’t the easiest things to listen to since apart from the elements mentioned above there are many keys which sometimes create atmosphere and other times they play a protagonist role in their music. There are some death metal outbursts and obvious rock background which gives out a really mainstream result. Given these factors you see the result is kind of chaotic. My personal opinion is that Plagues is an album we can find everyday and doesn’t provoke our interest. I can’t deny the interesting elements in the band but when we have to decide between albums The Devil Wears Prada aren’t a top choice. If you have you’ve listened to everything there is within the metalcore then it’s time you listen to this album.
