\r\n It’s so damn easy writing about something sooo bad! Inflammare come from Germany and even though they established their band in 1994 they decided to release their only official release ever in 2010. After looking at the digipack promo, I thought this could be some serious shit! But I was terribly wrong....the things I had to endure for the next minutes are indescribable. WHY?

\r\nDakrya is a greek word and it means “tears”. I don’t know what these guys were thinking when they picked this name for the band, but one thing is for sure: they will bring you anything but tears with their music.
\r\nNo, it’s not that it is a happy music, yet it is mesmerizing and imposing. The intense dramatic tone of the songs and the so theatrical performance on the vocals – by Christina Kalantzi, Thomais Chatzigianni and George Droulias on the brutal ones) result to such a special  and incredible piece of work.

The sound of the rain is purifying, almost hypnotizing. Somewhere in the distance the scattered notes of an otherworldly piano are escorting the sound of the falling rain drops as time seems to stand still. These sounds signal the transition to a dream or a nightmare. The mourning guitars are paving the way to an undefined world where the desperate vocals of Mikko Ojala (sounding more like screams of agony) plunge you deeper and deeper into a gloomy dark trance from which you are suddenly retracted by the mesmerizing call of Eliisa Tuomanen’s voice.

If you hadn’t had the chance to check them out so far, it’s never too late, provided you like this kind of music. Antimatter were formed back on 1997 by Duncan Patterson (former bassist/songwriter of Anathema) and Moss. They released three albums, “Saviour”, “Lights Out”  and “Planetary Confinement”, after which Patterson leaves in order to form the band Ion. Danny Cavanagh of Anathema joins Antimatter on their fourth studio album, “Leaving Eden”.

\r\nThe press kit specifically points out that the band stands out of the mass due to talented innovative songwriting etc...So I will start by strongly disagreeing with them in every way possible. Against The Flood play exactly what a thousand others do these days: metal/screamo/core american style. And they’re british..

\r\nThe american scene of our time is divided into two categories in my opinion. There are those that grew up with the more "classic" stuff(no need to mention any examples, right?) and there are the younger ones that grew up with whatever had the "core" labeling attached to its end. And I’m not saying this is bad thing or something necessarily negative. But the thing with Within The Ruins is somewhat strange.

\r\nDarkwater is a band that comes from Sweden and this is the successor of the very successful debut album of theirs, “Calling the Earth to Witness”, whic was released about three years ago.

\r\nNox are here again to teach dark death metal with their new e.p.
\r\nSome words about their history. Nox are the old Centurian, a band with members from other bands.
\r\nThis time as Nox, they have members from Prostitute Disfigurement, Severe Torture, Abhorrence...
\r\nSo, we cannot expect a mediocre album from those musicians.
\r\n
\r\nSpeed, Dark, Unholy brutal death metal in the veins of Centurian and much better.
\r\nSome blackened riffs give a more dark feeling in the chaotic death metal they play.
\r\n..And they do it well.

\r\nI never took the time to dig the modern punk/core scene in depth, not that I was prejudiced or something but nothing had hooked me from the genre before in order to do so. But Canadians Comeback Kid gave me my shoes in hand with their new album from the very first listening! Such nice surprises are like a hot pizza when on diet: it’s a sin but you gotta have it!

\r\n I’ve been waiting for this split cd for a long time now. The two "one man band" dudes are the best at what they do, and return with new material released by Relapse records although they are not part of its roster. Now, if you are not familiar with these guys just take a look at the logos featured on the cover and you’ll understand what it’s about. This review(I’d rather call it an opinion..) is addressed to the unaware since the rest of you brutal sickos know the what to expect.
