\r\nNothing original, yet not bad or indifferent at all. On the contrary, the five-member band with the female vocals in the front and the male ones as backing has lots of nerve, groove and a lot of freshness. Sevendust meets Lacuna Coil for those who are interested in such an approach of a band’s musical identity. We keep the prog musical style and the sweet melodies in the vocals and here’s the result.
A couple of days ago I ve been writing again a review for this band. Root hailing from Czech Republic, and this time I hate re released their album “The book” (1999). In this particular opus, Root left behind the black / death metal direction of their first releases and put in their music something that t can describe as dark epic metal. Root sounds like the band that played the Arcturus style of metal, before Arcturus emphasizing on their dark and “weird” style.
Another live release from Twisted Sister, and this time as double pack DC / DVD. I do not wish to be the “bad guy” that will judge them for not having a new album since 1987 , but after the re union they released tons of , collections, re takes, live CD and DVD. And I won’t say stuff like that because every single live release from Twisted Siter is just awesome, despite the years.
\r\nBefore The Dawn is a Finnish outfit and their newest album “Soundscape Of Silence” is their fifth full length release so far. The main man of the band is Tuomas Saukkonen, his name is probably familiar to many of you, from his collaboration with many bands / projects from the Finnish scene, such as Dawn Of Solace, Sinamore etc.
\r\nThe last few days during the so called “riot acts” in Athens and other cities of Greece as well, I was constantly listening on the news people wondering “Where all this violence comes from? All this hate and urge for destruction” If these people have heard of Kreator, they wouldn’t be wondering. They would know the answer. Rage is not an unknown feeling, is inside of us all, like a savage beast feeding from our daily fears, anxieties and disappointment for our broken dreams.
Have you missed pure, solid heavy metal? Well these guys here are coming from Sweden and their quest is to remind you the way heavy metal has to be played in the best possible way. It’s all about In Solitude a Swedish outfit that just release it’s debut full length LP and only on Vinyl (for now) through High Roller Records, there gonna be a cd version of the album sometime this year.
When I listened for the first time the demo release of Ereb Altor some years ago, one thing came into mind, and how a man can influence so much the whole metal scene. Of course this man was Quorthon of the mighty Bathory.
Vulcano is an outfit from Brazil and their sound can be described as a mixture of thrash metal with some Venom – ish elements mostly due too vocals. So I have here the re release of their album “Tales From The Black Book”, originally released back in 2004 by Renegados Records, and after the split release of Vulcano with Nifelheim on I hate Records in 2006 (Thunder Metal), I hate decided to re release their “Tales From The Black Book” album.
One of the darkest bands of Europe and specific in Czech Republic was and still is the outfit under the name, Root. The band that belongs to the first wave of black metal (Venom, Bathory, etc) with some progressive aesthetics and some death metal and dark epic passages. In their albums someone can find clean and brutal vocals and the whole attitude of the band can easily be described as black metal due to their lyrical themes.
\r\nYoung guys, which at first they seem to go with what at these days seems to be not only just another trend but a whole genre of its own, as another sub-category of the modern metal scene.. With what would I have to do this time? The beautiful, in a strange way, with this genre is that everyone seems to be against it but it keeps growing up.. The fans of classic hard rock/metal would characterize the sound as too mainstream, while the new metal fans that came into this community via the TV-metal would think this is too extreme, too hard for them..
