Broken Leaf” is the title of the debut album by the Belgian outfit, My Lament. By the first listening of the album I got the feeling that this must be a long lost album made by My Dying Bride between the “Turn Loose The Swans” and “The Angel And The Dark River” era. That was of course my first thought, after taking a closer listening to the album things became clearer in my mind.

S.C.A.L.P. is a Russian based outfit that it’s music can be described as doom / death / goth metal, so don’t you take them for the other Lengendary Russian outfit, SCALD, because you will let yourself down.

German Savage Circus is the band formed by former Blind Guardian drummer Thomen Stauch, who wanted to revive the good old sound he enjoyed playing. And he did it: The first Savage Circus album “Dreamland Manor” is like listening to Blind Guardian during the Somewhere far beyond time. Well now he also abandoned his second band for personal reasons (Health? Fatigue? Only he knows)

Beyond Eternity is the debut album of the Portuguese band Fantasy Opus and it’s exactly what someone expects by reading the band name or the track titles: Pureblood power metal.

\r\nSlovenian Glam/ Hard Rock… well, without any doubt that is the surprise of the day!  It’s hard to remember the last time I even heard of a Slovenian band. So what about their music? After a short search I made on the Internet I found out that most Slovenian metal bands have been around in the death and grindcore scene. Well Toxic Heart play hard rock, without any great innovations, they just play the music they like filled with a “Life Is Here To Enjoy” way of thinking as they say.\r\n

\r\nEldorado have returned with their second full length album, “Golden”, since their pretty good debut “En Busca de Eldorado” which was released in May, 2008. Coming from Madrid, Spain and formed in 2007, Eldorado have quickly managed to make some serious progress on their music. This album was recorded both in their home language, Spanish and in English and our work was to review the English version. But, on this occasion, I don’t think that language can be a barrier when good music is played.

\r\nSpit Like This…well I’ve always had my doubts on UK bands after the 90’s. And in the case of these guys my doubts and fears were fully confirmed. Before talking about the album itself, a short bio is always necessary. Spit Like This have been around since 2004 with many EP’s and Promo’s and managed to release their first full-length album in 2008, “We won’t hurt you (but we won’t go away)”. A year later, this album is re-released as the band signed with another label. I’ve read that this band reached the top 10 rock chart.

\r\nSouth America seems to really love progressive metal. The last time I heard a South American band playing was RC2’s wonderful album, “Future Awaits”. These guys came from Venezuela. In the case of Nova Orbis we have a Colombian band mixing the strength of metal sounds, the magic and mystery of gothic and the dynamics and complexity of progressive music. In my opinion, we’ll have to add some folk elements to this mix.\r\n

\r\nIf your motto is something like “Champagne, Chicks & Rock n’ Roll”, or “party like a Rockstar” and such, then you should definitely give Mama Kin a chance! They released a cd-single a few months ago and this is the full length album which is not about to rock your world or anything, however it’s pretty good.

\r\n“We are Heavy Metal… and if you don’t like it, f*ck you!” That’s the intro phrase in the new METALIUM album. A new chapter in the band’s history entitled “Grounded- Chapter 8” and I think that things are pretty clear regarding METALIUM and their music orientation. They play HEAVY METAL, plain and simple. And they haven’t any experimental tensions or anything like that.
