Charlie Dominici needs no introduction. He is the former Vocalist of US based progressive metal band, Dream Theater (When Day And Dream Unite – 1989).
\r\nDespite this fact, Charles Dominici formed back in 2005 his own band under the name Dominici. With Dominici, Charlie has released two full-length albums. So this is the third and last one of the trilogy “O3 – A Trilogy” and is simply entitled “O3 – A Trilogy Part III”
\r\nThis demo release is the first effort of Athenians Inmost Ego, that although has been recorded in the fall of 2006, the band released it one year later. The band according to the info promo sheet, is in search of a label and this period are playing some gigs. But let’s move on to the musical part of it
The third full length from Finland’s Behexen, sounds as the most “mature” release of the band. (Just to refresh your memory Behexen has released two albums in the past: “Rituale Satanum” [2000] and “By the Blessing of Satan” [2004])
\r\nMisanthrope is an old band, come out from depths of French cult scene. In 2008 therefore on behalf of also French Holy Records, they release their new album which brings the title IrremeDIABLE. As always, so and now Misanthrope present us a unique music which has as a base Death and Black Metal but beyond them, has also certain other elements which makes it unique. I believe that the term Avant-garde reflects him absolutely. To be honest, I didn’t like the album for two particular reasons.
\r\nThe New Dark Age is the name of the new album from Kiuas from Finland, which I admit that they confused me a little, because I found tracks that I really liked, but also found others that tired me. The music that the band plays is interesting, but there are some points where they exaggerate. What we hear is extreme Power Metal and with the term extreme, I mean something as what we have previously known through Dragonforce some years ago.
\r\nI used the term “alternative” above because these dudes have confused me. New album out for the Swedish band which has become popular due to the free downloading option that they gave to the people who might be interested in checking their music out, rather than their music itself. About the previously mentioned term. Machinae Supremacy is playing SID metal, as it is called, due to the fact that there are plenty of electronic elements/sounds, video games-like and computer games-like, back from the 80s & 90s.
\r\nDark Fortress from Germany with the release of Séance proved that they can manage many things. With Eidolon therefore, they proved that not only they managed perfectly in the extreme sound but they can achieve more and as the years passing by, they are developing, improving and becoming mature. Eidolon, is a concept album that is based on the Greek word "idol" and in this, Dark Fortress unfolds all their talent, the magic and the uniqueness that they have.
\r\nNostalgia For A Belief is a new band that its members are Greeks but they live in England. What we have here is a promo with 3 tracks, which helps us take a small dose of what we will hear in the future from this promising group. Initially we must say that the music that we hear here is multidimensional, meaning that it is Progressive Metal but in reality what we hear they are something more. The band is not afraid to experiment with its sound and manages it great.
\r\nThe “Frozen Circus” album by Poland’s Eternal Deformity has been released as a self financed release in 2007, and now the Label Code 666 re-releases it, something that I consider a very wise move, so this album and band can be accessible to a bigger audience.
Undefined from Spain have released back in the 2005 their first ep, and in 2007 their first album “Of Xenoglossy And Saturn”, that just reached us.
