THE LEGION IS BACK

November 27, 2008
Before everything I believe I should make clear that I am not of those who don’t  like bands that their sound has obvious elements taken from other bands.. Nevertheless, I find this a way to find out worthy moments of a sound that you are already familiar with. So, speaking for Quadrivium, especially since the point that clean vocals make their appearance, they reminded me of Arcturus.. Arcturus really had some magical moments! Do Quadrivium add some more of them to this genre? Hmmm, I ‘m not quite sure..

WHERE WINTER IS SPREADING SLOWLY

November 25, 2008

"Weak" is the first attempt of Greek, "Prejudice Reborn" to record a complete demo release. Their c.v. includes some appearances such as in a tribute concert for Metallica’s local fun club, a cover for a tribute cd about KISS and their participation at the battle of the bands, where they get to the semi finals. The style of this band is consisted mostly of Metallica’s musical approach , sometimes more aggressive and sometimes softer. This demo is based mostly on the guitar riffs and some good vocal lines.

The Australian Trident Winter were formed back in February 2005 when most of their members were studying at the "School Of Rock". As their bio mentions, they have performed for two years, opening for some local bands, while their devotion to bring back the heavy metal style of 80s, made them want to conquer the top. Their first moves in order to do this, was to hire drummer Shinok Mizuno and bassist Matt Bailey in order to allow Simon Hallett, who was handling both mic and low end, take the position of the frontman of the band.

ALIVE AGAIN

Sleaze/ Glam Hard Rock is a style of music which, nowadays, gains more and more publicity among Rockers. Danger, which were formed in Sweden in 2003, is a band whose music roots are, on groups like Cinderella, Poison, Motley Crue and a bit of Twisted Sister’s and Skid Row’s touch. After their first two ,unsigned, full length cds (”Keep Out” and ”In Control”), which sounded like a mixture of 80/90s metal bands, like Iron Maiden and Helloween, they hired Jesse Kid to handle the mic.

\r\nBefore a year ago the whole idea began as a solo project of Edu Falaschi, singer of Angra, however now things are different and we deal with a “regular” band. Thankfully I have to say, as it’s hard to find a really good album that you will be listening to for more than 2-3 times among so many new album releases.

OH MY DEAR GOD!! Why did I choose to do that? When I first got into the MetalZone team, they told me to use my sound-engineering experience in my reviews, I thought though that my opinion about production stuff, arrangements, etc shouldn’t matter that much, there are bands that can’t afford the cost of a decent production, so I should just say my opinion about the songwriting, the effort taken about a proper artwork, in general all these elements that if the circumstances were appropriate, they would make music sound good or not, would make a release stand out or not..
